The San Francisco River | Market Street Reimagined

Our proposal The San Francisco River, developed in collaboration with Vasudha Maiya, received an Honorable Mention in ULI San Francisco ’s Reimagine Market Street ideas competition!
The proposal reimagines Market Street as a vibrant pedestrian corridor that meanders like a river through the heart of the city.

We envisioned:
• Flow of Energy – A flexible promenade with green pockets for gathering, play, and performance
• Rethinking Downtown – From business core to mixed-use hub with parks, housing, and cultural pop-ups
• Reclaiming the Street – Car lanes are reduced to expand green space, bike paths, and public areas—while keeping the iconic trams
• Culture in the Current – A stage for SF’s stories through art, performance, and local expression
• Local Economies – Micro-retail and food pop-ups to support small businesses and activate the street
